Any connection between the Department of Information Retrieval in Brazil, and the Information Retrieval office in The Running Man? Both are set in a dystopian future with unusual ideas about law enforcement but there's no sign of a baby-faced Michael Palin with a selection of sinister looking implements in The Running Man.
